Discovery Harbour on Georgian Bay Welcomes Tall Ships This Weekend (August 24,25)

Weekend of Tall Ships (Tall Ships 1812 Tour Tickets ) Coincides with opening of H.M.S. Tecumseth Centre at Discovery Harbour.

Celebrate Peace Flag-200 Years of Peace
Jan Gray, General Manager of Huronia Historical Parks, holds the special “Celebrate Peace” flag that will be raised by Assistant Deputy Minister, Tourism, Culture and Sport Morah Fenning at Discovery Harbour on Saturday August 24 at 9:30 a.m.  
 

The Opening Ceremony will celebrate 200 Years of Peace as part of the War of 1812 Bicentennial. TALL SHIPS® 1812 Tour the weekend of August 24-25.

 

 

Opening of H.M.S. Tecumseth Centre

The dynamic H.M.S. Tecumseth Centre is now open to the public  at Discovery Harbour, offering visitors a world-class facility that showcases the original 1815 hull of H.M.S. Tecumseth.

Visitors will find dynamic themed exhibits surrounding the history of the Penetanguishene Naval Establishment including its relationship to the War of 1812.

 

Road Trip Midland to Penetanguishene and Discovery Harbour

From Highway 400, take Highway 12 or  Highway 93 to Midland and Penetanguishene.  As you drive into Penetanquishene notice the road changes to Main Street and Highway 93 ends.

Continue driving into Penetanguishene to the waterfront area. Keep to your right and watch for signs directing you to Discovery Harbour. As you proceed toward Discovery Harbour watch for the Ecological Garden (Parc Ecologique) on your left, on the edge of Georgian Bay.

This garden is made up of native Canadian plants and species. Enjoy spectacular views of Penetanguishene Harbour and Georgian Bay.
