Joyeux Carnaval! Canada’s premier winter festival is one big party - The Globe and Mail

Outdoor curling at the Barrie Winter Carnival "Winterfest"
One of my memorable experiences was the alcoholic liquid called Caribou, which was poured into a hollowed out cane we purchased.. At that time we were told this was a mix of pure alcohol and red wine. However the Caribou described in this article sound much better. Joyeux Carnaval! Canada’s premier winter festival is one big party - The Globe and Mail. It has always been my intention to return to this premier winter festival...I certainly recommend this a a must do activity for every Canadian or visitor to Canada.

Living in Ontario offers up a full range of fun winter carnivals including Ottawa's Winterlude, which I also recommend...however, it does not have the same" Joi de Vivre" as Quebec. Closer to home are the many local Ontario town, city and village winter carnivals offering up local flavours and tastes. Attending at least one winter carnival a year is always on my agenda...taking kids and grand kids is always a fun experience.
