Ontario Beaches Beckon Labour Day Weekend

 Families, couples and groups of friends have favourite resort destinations close to Toronto that are perfect for outdoor picnic adventures with fishing, sunbathing or paddling a canoe.
Choose private beach resorts or public beaches in parks across cottage and resort country. 

 

 Accessible Fresh Water Lakes

Within 90 minutes north of Toronto one can be on Lake Simcoe, Georgian Bay-Lake Huron, the south end of the famous Muskoka area. or a myriad of lakes in the Kawartha Lakes region.  Additional nearby resort areas are Lake Country and Wasaga Beach.  Major routes to the best beaches are via Highway 400 and Highway 401 north of the Toronto GTA. All of the beach locations are north, northeast or northwest of Toronto.

 

Kawartha Lakes

Lake Simcoe-Barrie

 Lake Simcoe is the closest major lake is within 30 minutes of the Toronto GTA on the southern and eastern shores.  The City of Barrie has some of the best beach locations combined with a downtown area for dining and entertainment.  See more on Barrie beaches the Lake Simcoe area.

Lake Country

Lake Country is a designated tourist region with a number of lakes for swimming, boating, and good fishing.  Orillia Ontario borders two significant lakes including Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching and is accessible via Highway 11 north from Barrie. South Muskoka

The historic Trent-Severn Waterway runs through the southern part of Muskoka forming a number of Lakes and beach areas along the way to Georgian Bay. Sparrow Lake is a significant lake in the waterway.

Wasaga Beach Area Georgian Bay-Lake Huron

Perhaps one of the most popular beaches is Wasaga Beach.  This is both a beach area, and a beach town on the shores of Georgian Bay. Wasaga Beach is a designated Blue Flag Beach indicating a high level of quality by international standards.  See more information on Wasaga Beach and Georgian Bay.
