The waters of Georgian Bay flow from many of the freshest rivers, streams, and fresh water springs in the world. Many say Georgian Bay is the sixth Great Lake. The largest designated area on Ontario maps is the large green patch
north of Toronto called Algonquin Park. The park is considered part of the "border" between northern Ontario and southern Ontario. This area is one of the greatest year round outdoor recreation areas in all of Canada and is a must stop for many tourists and Ontario residents. Known for outstanding canoeing, kayaking, hiking, and the renowned portage adventures, visitors quickly imagine the voyageurs who travelled the wilderness. The straight line border of the Park outlined on maps is only a part of the Algonquin story, as watersheds run through the park East to the Ottawa River, and west to Georgian Bay where the First Nations traded goods with early European explorers. See links to nearby towns, accommodation, cottage resorts, Inns, B&B canoe rentals, resorts with canoeing and kayaking getaway packages and wildlife viewing. Ontario Algonquin Area
